Client Settings for Linking and Redirection
A user has still has ability to set their personal preference for email links to open in either the web or the desktop application through their profile, but we have now given the admin the ability to set this this preference for an individual user by editing through the Admin > Users page as well.
When a user sets their preference to open links through the desktop application, a browser page opens before launching the desktop application. Previously the browser page remained open showing only a grey screen. We have cleaned up the redirect page and added text informing the user that they can close the page after the desktop application is launched.
Back Buttons in the Application
Back buttons have notoriously been an issue for where they take you back to. This release has put some effort into making back buttons act more logically for end users. These buttons will work the same in both the desktop application and on the web.
The back button in the application that is visible while a user is practicing, will now always take the user back to the model scenario that they engaged the practice from.
When creating an activity through the activity creation wizard, users will now be brought to the admin activities page after creation. Users will also now be brought back to the admin activities page after a successful update to an activity.
Watch and Respond: Watch parts duplicating
When a user watched a Watch Only part of a Watch & Respond activity, a duplicate scenario was created and accessible via the Browse page. All duplicates previously created have been removed and no duplicates will be created when interacting with the activity.
New Welcome Workflow
We have redesigned how users are invited to CommercialTribe by introducing a welcome email which will require users to set their password before accessing CommercialTribe for the first time. Additional information for both the Admin and the User can be found on the CommercialTribe Support page (help.commercialtribe.net).
Users added manually can now have a welcome email triggered when they are added to the system. This user will only have access to CommercialTribe after following a link to set their password.
Welcome emails to new users can also be sent when an activity starts. A new notice has been placed on the activity creation page informing that new users will be prompted to create an account when the activity starts. If the activity has already started and a new user is just being added they will get the email immediately. Users added to an activity with a future start date will be prompted to create an account on the start date of the activity.
If users are added to the platform through the ingest process and are added to a group that is assigned to an activity that has started, a welcome email will go out. If the activity has a future start date, the welcome email will go out upon the start date.
The admin users page will now display different statuses for users. Users who have just been added to the system without sending the welcome email will read as Pending. Users that have been sent the welcome email will have a status of Invited. Once a user has set their password their status will be Active. Inactive and Locked statuses will remain in the system and function the same way they have previously.
In order to make password reset more user friendly we are now allowing users to reset their password in any browser. This will allow users that do not have Chrome as their default browser to simply click the link that comes in the email and reset their password. Please be aware that users still need to use Chrome or the desktop application to access CommercialTribe.
A user should now be able to reset their password through both the Windows and Mac version of the desktop application with no issues.
The desktop application now has a new header bar. This bar mimics what the user is accustomed to when looking at a web browser. It contains back and forward buttons as well as the maximize, minimize and close functions.
